Baritone Dietwalt Mauruschat was born in Flensburg. He first studied violin and gained his first practical experience as a member of various chamber music ensembles as well as concert and opera orchestras. He worked in vocal ensembles from an early age.


After completing his violin studies and working as a freelance musician for several years, he began studying singing with Martina Borst (Hanover) and Frauke Wehrmann (Hamburg) from autumn 1994. He completed additional studies with Ruth-Maria Nicolay (Tel Aviv) and Torsten Föllinger (Stockholm). He is currently being vocal coached by Jale Papila (Hamburg) and Gertrud Ottenthal (Vienna). In addition, there is regular cooperation for detailed studies and accompaniment with GMD Prof. Mathias Husmann.


He took an active part in several international master classes for operas, concert singing and lieder singing as well as for opera performance, among others with Kammersänger Prof. Bernd Weikl, Prof. Hans-Joachim Beyer (Leipzig University of Music) and with Prof. Martha Sharp (Mozarteum Salzburg).


Dietwalt Mauruschat was a scholarship holder of the Bayreuth Festival. In summer 1999 he made his stage debut in Mozart's "Le Nozze di Figaro" at the Bayreuth Festival of Young Artists.

In October 2004 role debuts in the triptych by Ernst Krenek as Prof. Himmelhuber in the operetta "The Heavy Weight" and as King in the opera "The Secret Kingdom" in a production at the "young forum MUSIC THEATER" at the University of Music and Theater Hamburg.


Dietwalt Mauruschat appears regularly as a concert and lied singer. Numerous engagements among others in cooperation with VITA E VOCE with the conductor Marco Armiliato, "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg" (Konrad Nachtigall) at the Tyrolean Festival from 2007, the 3rd Brabantische Noble in "Lohengrin" under the direction of Gustav Kuhn in cooperation with the Accademia di Montegral, at the Ruhrtriennale with conductors Michael Boder and Rupert Huber as well as the director Willy Decker, at the State Theater Augsburg, at the State Theater Nuremberg in the season 2019/20 one of the six Flemish ambassadors in "Don Carlos" under the direction of GMD Joana Mallwitz, at the Ulm Theater, the St. Gallen Theater, the Schleswig-Holstein State Theater, the Theater Vorpommern and others.


Since 2015 engagements with cover and ensemble work at the Festival in Baden-Baden with the Berlin and Munich Philharmonic under the direction of Sir Simon Rattle and Stefan Soltez and the directors Brigitte Fassbaender and Philipp Himmelmann and in 2016 at the Salzburg Festival with the conductors Alejo Peres and Patrick Fournillier together with the Vienna Philharmonic and the Munich Radio Orchestra and the director Reinhard von der Thannen. At the Salzburg Festival he appeared at a concert performance of “Thais” (Massenet) and “Les Pecheurs de Perles” with Placido Domingo, among others, as well as a staged production of Rossini's “L´Italiana in Algeri” in the summer of 2018 with Cecilia Bartoli .
